What is supported living?
Supported living means you have your own home and get help when you need it.
Who can get supported living?
People with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or mental health needs.
Is it different from a care home?
Yes. In supported living you rent your home. You make choices about your life.
Do I have my own tenancy?
Yes. You sign an agreement. This gives you rights, like choosing who comes in.
Can I live alone or with others?
You can live by yourself or share with friends.
What support do I get?
Staff can help with cooking, cleaning, shopping, money, work or joining activities.
Who gives the support?
Trained staff. You may help choose who supports you.
Do I have independence?
Yes. You decide your routine, meals and hobbies.
Can I join community activities?
Yes. Supported living helps you be part of your local community.
How do I pay for it?
Rent and bills are paid like any home. Support is usually funded by your local authority or the NHS.
